VillaGIS attends Senate Committee Hearing on Missouri Senate Bill 384 in Jefferson City

As an active voice for setting and maintaining GIS standards in a number of States, VillaGIS attended this hearing to ascertain the nature and scope of Missouri Senate Bill 384 sponsored by Sen. Lager. He stated at the hearing that one of the main purposes of the bill was to implement a state wide seamless GIS map. The question of course becomes who shall fund such an initiative. VillaGIS continues to monitor the development and language of the proposed bill as it has the potential of affecting all GIS professionals and users in every arena from utility applications to assessment mapping. We are strong advocates for GIS standards and support such efforts while we remain concerned with the current language of this law and the controversy it has the potential to create. We invite you to contact us and give your opinion of this bill.
